Meet Larry Strickland

Larry was born and raised in Johnston County on a tobacco farm in the Brogden community.  For the past 40 years, he has been a resident of Pine Level. Wanting to give back to his home county, Larry has been an active member of the community for decades. Larry served as Chairman of the Johnston County School Parent Advisory Board for four years. For 18 years, Larry served on the Johnston County Board of Education and served as Board Chairman for last 8 years.

Aside from the Board of Education, Larry currently serves on the Deacon Board and also as the Treasurer of the Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church. He is a member of the Pine Level Lions Club. In his professional career, Larry and his two brothers co-own the Strickland Brothers Farm, LLC, and Rep. Strickland is the owner of Strickland Appraisal Services, LLC.  Also prior to serving as State Rep, Larry worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, most recently as Assistant Manager of the Right of Way Unit until retirement in 2016.   In November of 2016, Larry Strickland was elected as State Representative of N.C. House District 28. Since joining the legislature, Larry has served on the Agriculture (former chair), Transportation, Energy and Public Utilities, Commerce, Environment, State and Local Government I and Appropriations Committees.  Larry currently serves as a Full Appropriation Chair in the N.C. House of Representatives.
